There were over 372 heritage sites spread over in Puri, Brahmagiri and Krushnaprasad blocks lying uncared for, said Odisha Heritage Conservation Council president Bibhuprasad Tripathy on Monday
Research scholar Surendra Mishra, secretary DP Nanda and noted religious scholar of the temple Sidheswar Mahapatra had conducted extensive survey of these areas.
They said the sites carry links to the past events relating to the unaccounted part of the history of the State and demanded that they should be preserved and developed.
Elaborating details of these sites, Mishra informed that while Puri has 116 sites, Konark has 102 and Brhamgiri and Krushnaprasad has 154 such heritage sites in form of icons, rock edits, monuments and palm leaf old scripts.
The council would document the heritage history of these sites and publish a number of volume of books in phases soon, informed Mishra.
