Cong's S'garh bandh today

The Sundargarh  District Congress  Committee in association with the Rourkela  Congress  organisational district have called for a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk  bandh on Wednesday against delay in investigation in the incident of removal of stoles and shawls  from women at a meeting addressed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Mangaspur on December 4.

DCC president Dushmant Nayak said this at a Press meet here on Monday night.

Though the Chief Minister has asked the district administration and the police to probe into the incident, no action has been taken till date. Delay in taking action against policemen, who were involved in this shameful act, would be protested strongly by the Congress, said Nayak. He too demanded that the Chief Minister should tender an unconditional apology to the women for the act. “We have appealed to the people of Sundargarh district for supporting us to make the bandh a total success,” said Nayak.

He said all educational institutions, Government and private offices, shops and business establishments would remain closed and no vehicles would be allowed to move on roads during the bandh.
