The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on Monday condemned the atrocity on a tribal family of Kandhamal district, whose members were tortured by the police as they did not vote for the BJD in the recent Kandhamal bypoll.
PCC president Jayadev Jena formed a fact finding team under the chairmanship of PCC vice-president Sibananda Ray to meet the victims and prepare a report on the issue. Among others, Shyamsundar Hansdah, PCC general secretary Suresh Mohapatra, Cuttack Nagar Congress president Mohammad Mokim and party SC/ST Cell vice-president Bankanidhi Behera are the members of the team.
The team met the victims undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital on Monday. After returning from the hospital, the team would submit a report to Jena, said a release issued by the party in the evening.
