The political offensive in the wake of Kalahandi tribal Dana Majhi carrying his wife’s corpse on his shoulders for 12 km gained momentum with the Congress on Mondaytaking Dana and his two daughters in its padaytra in Bhawanipatna against the State Government for its failure in ensuing social security to poor and downtrodden.
The padayatra which had started from Melghara, the village of Majhi, to Bhawanipatna on Sunday, concluded at Bhawanipatna on Monday. Congress leaders took Majhi and his two daughters in the padayatra to sharpen its move against the Naveen Patnaik Government.
Senior party leaders like former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das and former lok Sabha member Pradeep Majhi slammed the Government for not facilitating basic supports to tribals.
“We just did it against the Sate Government’s failure. We want the Government to take proactive measures to avoid such incidences in future,” said Das.
