In a Press meet here, Congress nominee for Brahmapur LS seat last time V Chandrasekhar Naidu lashed out at the Modi Government for the new Farm Acts which he said were draconian by nature and would make the financial condition of farmers insecure.
While during the UPA regime, the MSPs for farm produces were enhanced, the NDA Government led by Modi is set to dilute the MSP system, Naidu lamented.
Agriculture contributes immensely for the GDP of the country but ironically the Government was ignoring the interest of the agriculturists, he said.Farm laws apart, blind policies like demonetisations, NEP Bill and GST etc have hindered the development of the nation, he alleged.
State Congress Kisan Committee president Amiya Kumar Pattanaik speaking on the occasion urged everyone to make the massive rally on December 14 successful in district and block level.
The State Government too failed to relieve woes of the farmers. Rather the ruling BJD was keeping mum on the black Bills on farm sector during their passage in the Parliament. Now 500 farmers organisations are continuing the strike despite the biting cold wave in Delhi, which shows the level of discontentment they have against the Central Government, Patnaik said.
Among others, Ganjam Kisan Congress president Brundaban Khatei, Sibaram Patra and Manoj Sahu were present. Paralakhemundi Town Congress president Basant Kumar Panda presided.
