A 12-member fact-finding team of the Congress led by Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammad Moquim on Tuesday met the Additional DGP at the State police headquarters in Cuttack and alleged that the death of Haridaspur VLW Smitarani Biswal has not been properly investigated by the Jajpur police.
The team said due to negligence of the Jajpur Superintendent of Police and unnecessary character assassination of the deceased and shielding of the accused, the mysterious death of Biswal is yet to be cracked.
The team members demanded immediately removal of the Jajpur SP and the Investigating Officer of the case. They also demanded the parents, husband and daughter of the woman VLW to be traced, provided adequate security and ensure that they return back to their native village. They also submitted a memorandum to the Additional DGP
Among others, Bijaylaxmi Sahu, Nishikant Mishra, Padmakar Guru, Rajani Mohanty, Deepak Mohapatra , Naresh Mohanty, Jinesh Das, Giribala Behera, Sailabala Jena, Nikunj Pashayat and Biswajit Das were present.
