Former PCC general secretary Chitralekha Mohanty joined the BJP in the presence of Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan here on Tuesday.
Mohanty, a former Doon International Schools former Principal and an anchor at the Doordarshan, joined the BJP after being influenced by ideologies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah. Apart from Mohanty, social workers Krushna Behera, Ranjita Parida and Ganesh Parida, Bhubaneswar Student Congress leader Janmejaya Rout (Lipu) and Mitu Srichandan Ray oo joined the saffron party.
Among others, BJP vice-president Sameer Mohanty, spokesperson Golak Mohapatra, State executive member Jagannath Pradhan and Bhubaneswar district president Harekrushna Khuntia were present.
