'Congress Gujarat surge also to impact Odisha'

Published on:

AICC secretary and former Rajya Sabha member Rama Chandra Khuntia has claimed that the Congress is now on an upward swing across the country after what party president Rahul Gandhi said a “Zabardast Jhatka” to the BJP in the last Gujarat Assembly elections in which the party’s tally went up to an impressive 80 seats reducing the BJP’s strength to a two digits, 99.

Khuntia, who is known to be a confidant of Rahul Gandhi, pointed out that the Congress has registered a substantial majority victory in the panchayat elections in Rajasthan, the results of which were declared on Tuesday, leaving the BJP to a poor second position ahead of the Assembly polls next year in the saffron party-ruled State. He asserted that the Congress would surge towards a majority win not only in Rajasthan but also in the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Assembly elections scheduled in 2018.

Khuntia also claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s stewardship of the Congress would have its remarkable positive impact in the Odisha Assembly polls, which are due in 2019 with his emphasis on promotion of youth leadership in the party

as is evident in Gujarat, where the party’s young MlAs constitute two-thirds of the total strength of its newly-elected legislature wing.
