A fact-finding team, consisting of four members headed by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) vice-president Sivananda Ray, on Thursday visited the Bhusan plant at Meramunduli in Dhenkanal district to know the exact number of causalities in Wednesday’s incident.
The team discussed with the manager, Human Resources Development, Bhusan plant, to assess the number of workers engaged at the time of the mishap. But neither the plant authorities nor the district administration is having the record of the number of labourers employed at that time.
The team has assessed that about 60 workers were at work at the time of the accident, PCC sources said. “Bhusan company has not only blatantly violated labour laws but has also flouted the Factory Act and Environment Act,” said the source. Also, the Government does not have any control over the company. Adding, hence, the PCC demands a CBI probe into the case.
