Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Aryakumar Jnanendra on Monday alleged that the death of Hemant Nayak at Begunia is the latest addition to the list of the custodial deaths in the State during the BJD regime.
He demanded that the police officer concerned be booked under Section 302 of IPC and the State Government pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the deceased’s family.
Jnanendra slammed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the rising incidents of custodial deaths, particularly because the latter is in charge of the Home Department. Patnaik has no control over the police, for which custodial deaths are on the rise, he said.
