Congress blames Govt for jaundice in Cuttack

Published on:

The Congress on Saturday came down heavily on the State Government for failing to contain the spread of jaundice in Cuttack. While four more cases of jaundice were detected on the day, the PCC president Prasad Harichandan along with several local party leaders visited the affected areas. “This Government has failed to provide even clean drinking water to people of the city. The jaundice menace could have been checked much earlier had the Government and local administration been alert to the situation,” Harichandan said, adding that over a hundred people are afflicted with this waterborne disease in a month.

The PCC chief was accompanied by party general secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and Cuttack city party chief Md Moquim. He took stock of the situation in every affected locality. On the other hand, visiting the affected areas, local BJD MlA Pravat Ranjan Biswal said that as per the direction of the Government, all illegal PHD water connections are removed now and the old pipelines of consumers are being replaced. Since most of the pipelines are passing through drains, leakage in them is causing havoc.
