Congress, BJP question implementation of modalities

Published on:

A day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the modalities for implementation of the recommendations of the Taskforce constituted to look into the plot and land allotments under the Discretionary Quota (DQ), opposition Congress and BJP leaders on Sunday questioned the delay in preparing the modalities.

They alleged that it was done only to give chances to the accused beneficiaries to destroy evidence.   leader of Opposition in the Assembly Narasingha Mishra said, “The Government had taken time in preparing modalities only to protect the accused, to destroy evidences and preparing files accordingly.” BJP leader Suresh Pujari, echoed Mishra’s view and questioned the effectiveness of the modalities.

“Many influential persons, including politicians, bureaucrats and people from different walks of life have been benefitted under the DQ. I think the modalities will save them more instead punishing.” Meanwhile, Housing and Urban Development Minister Puspendra Singh Deo said action would be taken against the guilty as per the modalities.

After the approval of modalities by the CM, as per process, the H&UD Department would now write to BDA, CDA and OSHB to hand over files to Vigilance to probe the multiple allotments. The multiple allotments acquired by furnishing false affidavits and incorrect information would likely be cancelled by the Government.
