The BJD and Congress seem to be vying for taking credit for a second bridge over the Ib river.

With tender process completed, the work order for the second bridge has been awarded to Shree Balaji Engicon, a private agency.

By laying foundation one after another, the BJD and the Congress leaders are trying to take credit for the second bridge construction.

On Sunday, Jharsuguda Congress MLA Naba Kishore Das laid foundation for the bridge in the presence of hundreds of Congress workers, including Block Chairman Digambar Bhoi, Sarpanch Raj Kumar Bada, Samiti Member Ghanashyam Seth and DCC vice president Pintu Padhi.

Before this, on Saturday also, BJD district general secretary Trinath Goel and Youth BJD president Prasant Jena also had laid foundation for the similar work.

Although the bridge is being constructed under Works Department, not a single officer was seen on the site either from the Works department or Shree Balaji Engicon during the inauguration. Rs 46.80 crore will be spent for the project and the construction will be completed by March 2021.
