Expressing resentment over poor sanitation in the district headquarter town of Nabarangpur, Congress workers led by former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi blocked NH-26 for two hours on Sunday.

later, they collected garbage, loaded it in a tractor trolley and it in front of the district Collector’s residence.

Majhi alleged that there is rampant corruption in the Nabarangpur Municipality, Bleaching powder, phenyl and mosquito oil are never sprayed in the drains, most of which are chocked and overflowing.

However, municipality officials dismissed the allegation of the Congress leaders.

The district unit of the BJD criticised Majhi and his party workers for dumping garbage near the Collector’s house. BJD district president Prahalad Tripathy, who is also the vice-chairperson of the municipality, on Monday refuted poor sanitation claim by the Congress and demanded stringent action against the Congress workers for public nuisance and for defiling public property.

Meanwhile, the Town police registered a case against Pradeep Majhi and some Congress workers for defiling the Collector’s residence and also seized the tractor used for the purpose.
