Congress members showed black flags at ST and SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi at Mundaguda village under Umarkote block in Nabarangpur District on Wednesday.

According to sources, three party workers were detained in this connection.  Majhi along with Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi  were on their way to attend a “Ama Gaon Ama Vikash” programme in the GP when a group of Congress workers allegedly showed black flags, pelted eggs at their vehicle and shouted slogans against  them.

The policemen snatched away flags from the Congress activists and rounded them up. Later, three of them were detained, said the Umerkote SDPO.

“The Congress has become sure of its defeat in the upcoming general election and has, thus, turned violent. I strongly condemn this cowardly act,” Minister Majhi told reporters.

Similarly, Pramad Padhy, a senior BJD leader of the district, said the attack only shows the Congress’ frustration.
