Cong wins Gajapati coop body chief postps

The Congress has managed to grab the president seat of the Gajapati Housing Cooperative Society even as the society has more pro-BJD directors. The election, which was held on Tuesday, had received nomination papers from BJD supporter laxmikant Parichha and Congress supporter Garuda Dhwaja Choudhury for the president post on Monday.

Of the total 10 directors, who had been elected without any election earlier, only four are the Congress supporters. However, the Congress candidate Garuda Dhwaja became the president of the cooperative body by winning the election with six numbers of votes. Notably, the Congress had captured the BJD seat of the Parala Assembly Constituency and the Parala Municipality Chairman’s seat in the last elections. Again, the winning of a Congress candidate in the cooperative body election has given a heavy blow to the BJD.
