The Congress on Saturday urged Governor Prof Ganeshi lal to direct the State Government to implement reservations for SC, ST, OBC and PwD in recruitment of Biju Yuva Bahini coordinators and change the name ‘Biju Yuva Bahini’ as it is similar to ‘Biju Yuva Janata’ thereby confusing general people.
“The entire amount meant for the Biju Yuva Bahini is sent from the Government treasury. While thousands of Coordinators from ward to district levels have been appointed, there was no proper advertisement for execution of reservations for ST, SC, Physically Disabled and OBC categories. It is a gross violation of constitutional rights of the people belonging to reserved categories,” read the memorandum submitted to the Governor.
The memorandum was signed by PCC ST department chairman Bhujabal Majhi, OBC department chairman Bishnu Charan Barik, Haladhar Sethy, Debi Prasad Prusti, Bidyadhar Dehury, Padmakar Guru, Amiya Pandav and Satyabrat Nayak.
Pointing the ruling party is gaining bonus from taxpayers’ money with ‘Biju Yuva Bahini’ sounding akin to ‘Biju Yuva Janata’ and, thus, confusing people, memorandum demanded the Governor order the State Government to change the name at the earliest.
