Cong to hold 250-km bullock cart rally

The State Youth Congress along with the Kisan Khet Mazdoor Congress would organise a massive bullock cart rally against the land Ordinance and alleged Government failures in containing farmer issues here soon. Addressing a Press conference here on Wednesday, former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi said that though Odisha produces one-tenth of country’s paddy, yet lack of irrigation facility in drought-prone areas has pushed farmers into utter penury. Besides, farmers continue to face paddy distress sale due dearth of mandi facilities across the State, he said.

He said a bullock-cart rally from Baripada to Bhubaneswar covering 250 km in seven districts would be organised. Time and modalities of the proposed rally would be finalised soon, he said. Among others, State Kisan Khet Mazdoor Congress president Amiya Patnaik, former MlA Sadan Nayak, district Congress president Narayana Patra, former ZP President Manjula Majhi, Muna Tripathy and Councillor Uttam Tripathy were present.
