The Odisha Congress at a Press meet here on Wednesday announced to gherao all the 314 block offices in the State on August 18.
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Sarat Patnaik said the block offices would be gheraoed for fulfilment of the party’s nine-point charter of demands.
Patnaik urged the Congress MP, MLAs, district and block Congress presidents, women, youth and student wing members and party workers to participate in the programme.
Patnaik said the 15 to 50-per cent percentage (PC) system prevalent in the blocks must be stopped; the Rs 50-lakh funds sanctioned for the Aama Odisha Naveen Odisha scheme’s projects list should be prepared by the panchayats; atrocities and crimes against women must be stopped; eligible beneficiaries for the PMAY houses should be selected; distress sale of paddy must be stopped; prices of fuel and LPG must be reduced and uninterrupted power supply should be ensured.
Congress Campaign Committee president Bijay Patnaik said the State Government’s failures are known to everybody. Among others, party’s Media Cell chairman Ganeshwar Behera also spoke.
