Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Jayadev Jena on Tuesday said his party has decided to lodge FIRs in different police stations across the State from July 11 against the State Government for diverting 10 kg rice from the monthly quota of each BPl family under the public distribution system (PDS).
Jena alleged as the State Government refuses to go by the Central guidelines on distribution of the PDS rice among the BPl families, the State Congress will go to police stations to lodge complaints as curtailing rice from the BPl quota is an offence. “The Center allocates 35 kg rice to each BPl family every month but the State Government distributes only 25 kg. So, complaints would be filed against the Chief Minister and the Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare,” the PCC Chief explained.
Further, he stated a signature campaign would be undertaken among the BPl families all over the State and subsequently a PIl would be filed in the Odisha High Court seeking justice against the bungling of PDS rice, Jena said.
