Cong to act against those part of anti-party activities

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Jayadev Jena on Saturday warned of drastic action against those involved in anti-party activities in the just-concluded urban local body (UlB) elections.

“It has come to the notice of the PCC that some party people have worked against the party in different places by fielding Independent candidates thereby leading to the defeat of our party nominees. Hence, they would be dealt with drastic action,” said Jena.

Jena said that in spite of use of black money and muscle power and misuse of Government machinery by the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the anti-party activities by a section of Congress members, the Congress bagged 333 seats out of the total 1,103 in the 65 UlBs, the poll results of which were announced on Friday. Besides winning in 12 UlBs, the Congress’ percentage of votes has increased in comparison to the 2008 UlB polls, said Jena.
