Rajkanika BDO Ramesh Behera was on Monday assaulted by some miscreants while he was attending a grievance camp in the block premises, said Kendrapada SP Rabi Narayan Behera. According to the SP, five persons forcibly entered into the BDO’s office while he was listening people’s grievances. They identified themselves as the locals of Niala gram panchayat.
They demanded that the BDO, who is also in charge Ali block, provide them contract works and annual a road construction contract given under the SC and ST Development Department at Niala GP. Placing this demand, they all on a sudden started assaulting him on his face. The BDO lodged an FIR at the Rajkanika police station. Acting on the FIR, police have registered a case and started inquiry. The five youths were supporters of Congress MlA Debendra Sharma. Police have started a manhunt.
