The Congress staged a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan here on Thursday demanding justice to the family of deceased Smitarani Biswal, PEO-cum-VLW of Haridashpur of Jajpur district’s Dharmasala block, at the earliest.
The party demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged murder of Smitarani.
The agitating leaders sought the Governor’s intervention in ensuring justice to Smitarani. OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik and many senior leaders of the party were present.
Notably, Smitarani Biswal, also VLW of the Haridash panchayat, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at first floor of the guesthouse owned by Rupesh Bhadra, husband of Sarpanch Madhusmita Bhadra.
Police have arrested Rupesh Bhadra and are still conducting investigation into the incident.
