The Congress on Thursday strongly criticised the Naveen Patnaik Government for the delay in appointment of a Lokayukta.
Addressing a Press conference here, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) media cell chairman Satya Prakash Nayak said that while the time fixed by the Supreme Court has expired, the State Government is yet to implement the court order.
The apex court asked the Government to complete the appointment process by July 10, 2018 but the Chief Secretary filed the status report in the court on July 11, 2018.
Again, the court gave two months’ time to appoint Lokayukta, but the Goernment has not taken any step yet, lamented Nayak.
“This shows how transparent the State Government is? It indicates that the State Government is afraid of appointing a Lokayukta,” Nayak alleged.
