The district administration has taken all steps for election of the new chairperson of the Paralakhemundi Municipality scheduled to be held on Monday.
In a major success to opposition Congress, the party is all set to form the municipal council as it has won nine of the 16 wards while the ruling BJD has got six and the BJP one.
However, local BJD sources claimed that though the Congress has the majority, there is chance of cross-voting, in which case the BJD would get the benefit. Sources said the BJD is trying to take the help of the BJP councillor.
