The Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday demanded that the BJD suspend its Barabati-Cuttack MLA Debashish Samantraya and he be arrested for damaging image of the State at national and international level by misbehaving with a family member of martyred CRPF Jawan Monoj Kumar Behera.
PCC Media cell chairman Satya Prakash Nayak made this demand at a Press meet here. “For the sake of the image of the State, which has been lost in the national and international level, the BJD Supremo and Chief Minister should suspend the MLA from the party and arrest him for misbehaving with a member of the martyred family,” demanded Nayak.
Notably, a major controversy has erupted as a video of Samantaray manhandling a relative of martyred CRPF jawan Manoj Behera went viral on social media. The video has reportedly been telecast in a Pakistan news channel, which went on to ridicule that elected Indian leaders don’t have any respect to martyrs and their families.
It may also be mentioned here that the MLA has tendered apology twice for his misbehavior with the martyr’s kin.
