The issue of children’s death due to malnutrition in Jajpur district’s Nagada village was voiced in the Rajay Sabha on Tuesday.

Congress leaders BK Hariprasad, Jairam Ramesh and Ranjib Biswal raised the issue thorough a Calling Attention and sought the Central Government’s support to the village.

Meanwhile, the five-member Central team led by Health and Family Welfare Ministry Joint Secretary Chetan B Sanghvi visited Nagada to take stock of the situation.

The team expressed satisfaction over steps taken by the State Government to prevent further deaths. “There are many villages like Nagada in the country. Children’s deaths due to malnutrition are very disappointing. But steps taken by the State Government are appreciable,” said Dr Arun Singh, a member of the team.

The other three members who visited the village were Dr Sheela Dev, Dr Abdesh Kumar and Dr Praveen Kumar. Some State Government officers, including Women and Child Welfare Secretary Vishal Dev, accompanied the Central team to the hilly village.
