Cong questions Jay Shah firm's unusual growth

Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan on Monday took a dig at the BJP over the reports that BJP national president Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah’s firm rose 16,000 times during the last two years and demanded that a two-member Supreme Court judge team probe into the allegation to find out the truth.

“The BJP leaders are talking big about the Union Government’s performance. Now, the real face of the BJP and the Narendra Modi Government has come to the fore. It is not understood how the Income Tax, CBI and the ED couldn’t know Jay Shah’s unusual growth,” wanted to know Harichandan.

Ridiculing Prime Minister’s claim that his Government never allows corruption to happen, Harichandan demanded that the Supreme Court form a taskforce to investigate into the allegation and find out the truth.

Notably, ‘The Wire’ in an article has alleged that a company run Jay Shah posted a turnover which was 16,000 times that of previous year from Rs 50,000 in 2014-15 to Rs 80.5 crore in 2015-16. After publication of this article, Union Minister Piyush Goyal termed the allegations as “derogatory, defamatory, hallowed and baseless”.

To this Harichandan raised a question as to how a Minister defended a private person accused of wrongdoing. “Amit Shah is party president of the BJP, hence a private person. Shah’s on Jay also a private person. It is not understood why a Minister defended them against wrongdoing,” wanted to know Harichandan.

He too alleged that the BJP and the BJD jointly looted the State for long nine years.
