Youth Congress activists led by State president Dr Smruti Ranjan Lenka on Wednesday protested the State Government’s ‘no recruitment for two years’ decision by begging and polishing shoes on the roads here.

“Lakhs of Odia migrants have returned to the State due to Covid-19 lockdown. They are searching for jobs now. At this crucial time, the State Government should consider giving jobs to them at the earliest. Instead, it has decided to stop recruitments for two years, putting jobseekers and their parents in depression,” alleged Lenka.

While many of parents have incurred loans for their children’s study would be more depressed.

“We demand that the Government withdraw the decision and provide jobs to all youth according to their qualifications. Otherwise, the Youth Congress will intensify its stir,” threatened Lenka.

Among others, MLA Suresh Kumar Routray, youth leaders Manas Kar, Kiran Sahoo, Nihar Bhera, Nalinikant Nayak, Jnana Ranjan Rout, Harekrushna Mohanty and Ashutosh Lenka were present.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA candidate for Bhubaneswar Madhyam seat Rajiv Patnaik told a Press conference that the Government’s ‘no recruitment’ decision has pushed futures of 80 lakh Matric pass-out and over 20 lakh graduates into uncertainties. The Government has betrayed youths during the last 20 years, he alleged.
