Cong not free of rift: Niranjan

Published on:

Senior Congress leader and former Minister Niranjan Patnaikon Sunday said the State Congress is still not free of rift, which can be set right by senior leaders.

“All parties have some kind of troublemakers. Such elements are also in the Congress. Some rats have been killed and the left-out ones would also be killed,” Patnaik, PCC coordination committee member, told reporters when asked to comment on his recent visit to New Delhi.

On former Chief Minister Hemanand Biswal’s recent remarks of functioning of the State Congress, Patnaik said, “He is a senior member. If he gave some remarks, did he become an anti-party leaderIJ” Patneik wanted to know.

He said senior leaders should sit together and resolve the differences of opinion among them. “If the position of the Congress vis-à-vis other parties is considered, we have to work hard for sustenance,” he remarked.

It may be noted that Patnaik had visited New Delhi and met AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi before Biswal did last week.
