The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on Monday submitted a memorandum to the State Election Commission (SEC) demanding resignation of Steel and Mines Minister Rajani Kanta Singh and a show-cause from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the violation of code of conduct.
A six-member Congress delegation led by Former Minister Ganeswar Behera submitted a memorandum to the SEC demanding the resignation of Singh for the use of his office to promote the interest of the ruling BJD ahead of the Urban local Body polls at Angul, while the model code of conduct is in force.
Further, Behera alleged Chief Minister Patnaik laid foundation stones on Sunday at Kalinga Nagar in the city for construction of 2,088 houses at the cost of Rs 238 crore for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) violating the code of conduct. “PCC demands the SEC to ask show-cause to the Chief Minister for violating code of conduct and take necessary action against him,” the Congress delegation said.
