Rajnagar Congress MLA Anshuman Mohanty has served a legal notice to Food Supplies and Cooperation Minister Surjya Narayan Patro over his comments on the paddy procurement scam in Kendrapada district. Mohanty stated that Patro should tender an apology over his controversial remarks on the scam.
Reportedly, Patro had levelled allegations against Mohanty that the relatives of the MLA are only involved in the false paddy procurement scam as per the CAG report.
In response to Patro’s comments, Mohanty had challenged him saying that if the Minister can prove involvement of any of his blood relatives in the scam, he would retire from politics. He had further challenged Patro to resign if he failed to prove the charges.
Mohanty has also threatened to file a defamation case against the Minister if the latter fails to tender an apology. Besides, he informed that he has written a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik apprising him about the matter.
“The charges levelled by the Minister are false and baseless and if he does not tender an apology immediately, I would file a defamation case against him,” stated Mohanty.
However, the Minister is yet to comment on the matter.
