Several senior Congress leaders, including a majority of the party MlAs, on Saturday had a parley at the residence of leader of Opposition in Assembly Narasingha Mishra here and reportedly discussed about a change of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president.
The meeting assumed importance in view of a reported move in New Delhi to replace incumbent PCC chief Prasad Harichandan with Bhakta Charan Das.
All party MlAs, who have been demanding an immediate replacement of Harichandan, are known to be in support of former PCC president Niranjan Patnaik as the next head of the State Congress. Patnaik was also present at the meeting on Saturday.
However, the leaders who attended the meeting later told reporters that they discussed about the forthcoming election to the post of President of India.
Asked whether change of PCC leadership was the main subject of the talks, they parried the question, saying all matters could not be revealed to the media.
