Congress leader Ashok Kaka, a close aide of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, was shot dead on Friday by three unidentified assailants in Rohtak.
Ashok Kaka, 59, also the former president of a jewellers’ association, was taking a morning walk along Double Park when the assailants came by on motorcycles and shot him three times.
Police said he was rushed to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences at Rohtak but doctors declared him brought dead.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
According to the police, prima facie, the reason for his murder seemed to be a long-running property dispute.

He owned a jewellery shop on Railway Road in Rohtak and also led a recent agitation by jewellers over the proposed imposition of excise duty by the Centre on non-silver jewellery.

dispute with his brother and another party.
Property dispute could not be ruled out as a reason of the murder. A case has been registered at Civil lines police station of
Rohtak, said he. “We are investigating the case,” added the SSP.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has given an ultimatum of 72 hours to the State Government to arrest the assailants of Ashok Kaka.
