Cong flays Govt for 'poor' flood management

Published on:

Pradesh Congress Committee President Jayadev Jena on Thursday came down heavily on the State Government for the “mismanagement” of the Hirakud reservoir authorities that caused the devastating floods in the State.

Relief materials and adequate number of boats are not reaching the affected areas, he said. In a Press release, Jena said lakhs and lakhs of people living in the Mahanadi delta area are spending sleepless nights and 47 persons have lost their lives so far, but CM Naveen Patnaik claimed that the situation is under control. The Govt failed to manage discharge of water from the Hirakud reservoir and this flood is clearly manmade. The Chief Minister is only reviewing the situation at the State Secretariat keeps saying “The flood situation is under control at the moment”.
