Cong demands CBI probe into MlA arrest

Published on:

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) spokesperson Durga Prasad Sahu on Monday demanded that a CBI inquiry be ordered for disclosure of the name of the police officer involved in the disturbances at the MCl in Talcher.

“MlA Braja Kishore Pradhan while fighting for the interests of the local labourers was illegally arrested. The Government instead of looking at the interests of workers registered a police case against the MlA, arrested him and sent him to jail while the Assembly session is on,” alleged Sahu. He pointed out that even Health Minister Damodar Rout and ruling BJD’s Rabi Narayan Pani have condemned the arrest of the MlA during the Assembly session. The MlA was opposing the mafia raj and hooliganism by outside labour contractors in the colliery which relates to the daily bread and butter of the labourers. The local police officers are involved in the coal transportation through the outside contractors and their names should be brought to fore,” said Sahu.
