The Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday held a demonstration here demanding arrest of Baleswar BJP leader Sashi Sahoo for his alleged involvement in a land fraud and chit fund scam.
Congress activists, who came in a bike rally from the Congress Bhawan at Master Canteen to the DCP office, protested in front of the DCP office and also tried to barge into the office. But when the police prevented them, a scuffle ensued.
“We will knock at the door of the Governor over the issue; and if no action is taken even after that by the Government and the DCP, we will stage a State-wide protest,” said senior party leader Jayadev Jena.
later, PCC president Prasad Harichandan also demanded immediate action against Sahoo.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader has refuted the allegations, which he said are politically motivated and baseless.
Notably, the CBI had earlier grilled the BJP’s MlA candidate Sahoo for the Simulia Assembly seat in the last Assembly polls in connection with financial dealings with a company owned by BJD leader Sanjay Dasburma’s brother-in-law.
