Congress Legislature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra on Friday expressed resentment in the State Assembly over a decision of Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro for not allowing an Adjournment Motion given by him relating to the functioning of the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC).
“It is unfair and deplorable that an Adjournment Motion given by me on behalf of my party relating to the functioning of WODC was not allowed when there was no such motion before you for discussion today.
When WODC has one-fourth of the State’s population and one-third of the land area, we keep strong objection to your decision and appeal to you to reconsider it,” said Mishra.
Another Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja too expressed unhappiness on the issue. Alleging that crores of rupees sanctioned for the WODC have remained unutilised, he alleged that WODC Chairman and officials are changing projects arbitrarily. Concerned MLAs are not being taken into confidence, he alleged further.
