The Congress women wing on Tuesday decided to conduct a State-wide agitation on April 11 protesting the State Government’s failure in providing drinking water to people.
Mahila Congress president Sasmita Behera said party workers would stage protest in front of Collector, Sub-Collector offices and also in 33 organisational districts across the State over the water crisis.
“We have decided to launch an agitation demanding improvement in water supply. People in large parts of the State are struggling to get even a drop of drinking water. The situation is worsening every passing day,” said Behera.
She alleged while drinking water problem was fast deteriorating, the State Government has forgotten its duty.
“We won’t allow the Government to force people to live in misery. We will protest till improvement in drinking water facility reaches every nook and corner of the State,” said Behera.
She said the party would intensify its stir if the Government fails to ensure water to people in the summer.
