At a time when the ruling BJD and the opposition Congress are at loggerheads over a whooping `8 crore chit fund money credited to a BJD SBI bank account, the youth brigades of both the parties on Wednesday took to the streets raising fingers at each other.
Activists of the Congress Youth wing under the leadership of its president Itish Pradhan staged a funeral procession of BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Master Canteen Square and performed his last rites shouting anti-Government slogans.
The protestors also burnt the effigy of Patnaik and demanded his immediate ouster, besides that of tainted Minister Sanjay Dasburma.
“How can a State tolerate an intolerant and corrupt Chief MinisterIJ You committed a crime and when it is exposed you are targeting the person who exposed it (Narasingha Mishra) in the Assembly and outside,” lamented a protestor.
Earlier on the day, the Biju Yuva Janata Dal activists too decried the allegations of leader of Opposition (loP) Narasingha Mishra and burnt his effigy.
led by MlAs Bijay Nayak, Priyadarshi Mishra and BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, the protestors demanded an unconditional apology for making the baseless and false allegations against the party and the Chief Minister.
“Despite being the leader of Opposition, Narasingha Mishra has betrayed the people of the State by making false and misleading statements. We demand his resignation from the prestigious loP position and an unconditional apology from him,” said MlA Bijay Nayak.
