State Congress president Niranjan Patnaik on Friday brought several allegations against the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government in the State and the Narendra Modi-headed Government at the Centre.
Addressing a Press conference here, Niranjan Patnaik said the dalits, tribals, farmers and the poor in the State are suffering a lot in the hands of the BJD Government.
“What happened to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s assurance to farmers of providing additional bonus of Rs 100 per quintal of paddy,” he demanded to know. He also demanded an explanation from the State Government for the delay in implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report on farmers’ problems.
The Chief Minister must tell people the number of jobs his Government has created since the BJD came to power in 2000, the PCC chief said.
Claiming that over 40 lakh unemployed youths are on the verge of migrating to other States in search of jobs, Niranjan Patnaik alleged that the Odisha Government has failed to ensure social and economic justice for people of the State.
Patnaik also accused the Modi Government of betraying farmers as it has failed to live up to its promise of fixing MSP at 50 per cent over the cost of farm production.
Modi, while campaigning for the last Lok Sabha elections, had promised to bring back black money from abroad and deposit Rs 15 lakh of it in every citizen's bank account. But what happened to his bravado, Patnaik asked.
Modi has also betrayed people as he has failed to fulfil his promise of providing two crore jobs every year, he said.
