The Congress would oppose Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra’s entry into the State Assembly during its Winter Session beginning from December 1.
Senior Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja on Monday told the media that his party would write to the Assembly Speaker to prohibit Mishra’s presence in the House in view of his alleged link with the Mamita Meher murder case and patronisation of the prime accused in the case Govinda Sahu. The purity of the legislature would be sullied if Mishra attends it.
Saluja said that even Mamita’s parents have accused Mishra of close relation with Govinda Sahu.
Senior Congress legislator Suresh Kumar Routray also stated that Mishra’s entry into the Assembly.
BJP MLA Kusum Tete too said that Mishra would not be allowed to sit in the Assembly as the augustness of the House would be affected in the presence of such a tainted person.
However, senior ruling BJD MLA Ashwini Patra in his reaction said no one can prevent an elected member from attending the House. If the Opposition has any complaints against Minister Mishra, they can move law courts with evidences.
Meanwhile, BJP leader and former State DGP Prakash Mishra said Northern Range DIG Deepak Kumar, who allegedly gave a clean chit to Minister Mishra at a Press conference on Sunday, was not competent to comment on the Mamita case as the incident took place in Kalahandi district, which comes under the South Western Range of Police.
