Even though Cuttack-Barabati BJD MLA Debasish Samantray has apologised twice for shoving a relative of martyred CRPF Jawan Manoj Behera , the video of which went viral, the Congress and the BJP on Friday lodged police complaints against the MLA demanding his arrest.
While the Mahila Congress lodged a complaint against Samantaray at Badambadi police station in Cuttack, another complaint was filed by the Puri district Youth Congress in the Town police station in the holy town.
A Youth Congress leader Alok Dash said the BJD MLA has disrespected the nation by manhandling a relative of a brave soldier, who lost his life fighting against the country’s enemies. After a Pakistan TV channel aired the incident, the entire country is ashamed.
Similarly, the State BJP filed a complaint at the Capital police station alleging that the MLA has disrespected the nation by his misbehaviour with the kin of the martyred jawan.
Former Lieutenant General and BJP leader Narayan Mohanty said it is unfortunate that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has not taken action against Samantray.
This shows he has no respect for soldiers. The incident has been aired by all Pakistani TV channels. This is humiliating for the State and the country. However, BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb said Samantray has already apologised and the party would take a call on action to be taken against him.
