Concern in Assembly over inter-State border problems

Published on:

Ruling BJD members on Thursday expressed deep concern over the alleged insecurity prevailing in border areas of the State due to hooliganism being allegedly resorted to by neighouring States.

Raising the issue in a Special Mention, Prafulla Samal said insecurity in bordering areas of Odisha has exceeded limits as the neighbouring States of West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand have been resorting to hooliganism.

“Andhra Pradesh is forcibly holding elections in the Kotia area of Koraput district. Similarly West Bengal is demanding Kanika of the Dhamra area as its own and has thrown away demarcation pillars from parts of Bhograi area. The Government should take steps against their hooliganism and strengthen security in those areas,” Samal said.

Similarly, ruling members Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo,  Anant Das and Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik raise the issue and said appropriate steps should be taken to prevent AP and WB from barging into Kutia and Baleswar’s Digha areas.
