In view of the soaring Covid-19 positive cases at Balisankara gram panchayat (GP) of Sundargarh district, the Sarpanch on Friday declared a complete lockdown in the panchayat for seven days to contain the virus spread.
The lockdown would remain in force at Balisankara GP from April 16 to April 24,With fresh restrictions imposed in the panchayat, all business establishments would be closed and people’s movement are banned in villages under the GP. However, the shops selling essential commodities and dairy products have been exempted from the lockdown and would remain open from 7.00 am to 11.00 am for consumers during lockdown. The State Government has already enforced micro containment restrictions at Telijor revenue village under Balisankara GP.On the day, Sundargarh district reported 523 new positive cases.
