Social activist Padmashree Tulasi Munda demanded payment of three month’s dues to about 658 labourers working in the Kaliapani chromites mines at Sukinda valley in Jajpur district by the State Government. Munda, at a Press meet here, alleged that the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) run chromites mines have been closed due to political conspiracy.
As a result, the workers of the mines have lost their employment. Even the workers didn’t get their dues before the Durga Puja, she lamented. After losing their job, the workers are preparing to go outside the State in search of livelihood. She opined that the State Government should have rehabilitated the labourers before closing the mines. She demanded termination of contractor Samrat Gupta and OMC officer Narayan Chandra Dhir, who are creating problem for the labourers.
