BJD and BJP members on Wednesday expressed strong resentment over companies’ sheer negligence in giving jobs to local people in their plants operating in the State.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, BJD member Kishore Mohanty alleged that the MCL has selected 2,373 candidates for appointment to its various posts. The list includes only about 10 Odia youths.
“When people have given land to the MCL, the company has been appointing outsiders in its various posts. A very few Odia people are working in the company while land givers have grown old waiting for jobs in the Central PSU. This situation will worsen as people have decided to take to the streets. Kindly give a direction to the Government to talk to the MCL authorities and ensure that adequate Odia people get job in the company,” demanded Mohanty.
Other BJD members like Braja Kishore Pradhan and Amar Satpathy also supported Mohanty’s demand.
On the other hand, BJP members Nauri Nayak, Kusum Tete and Bishnu Charan Sethi alleged that all private companies operating in the State have neglected in giving jobs to local people when unemployment is rampant in the State. They too demanded a statement from the Government.
Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro directed the Mining Department to take note of the allegations.
