The State Government has formed a Representative Committee headed by social activist Pratap Sahoo on behalf of the transgender community.
The committee would visit all the districts and select four transgenders for district level committees in one month. later a four member State level team would be constituted.
The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department has formed the committee which is first in Odisha.
While Pratap Sahoo was appointed as the Chairperson, Sadhana Mishra was appointed as convenor, Meera parida, Madhuri Kinnar, Meghana Sahoo, Sonali Kinnar, Menka Parida, Mithi, Aiswaria Rituparna Pradhan, Sonam Kinnar, Sandhya Kinnar, Swapna and Babli were selected as members while and representatives of Alliance India and Saathi would give technical support to the committee.
