The All Odisha Non-Government College State Scale lecturers’ Forum has decided to boycott classes from August 1 and wear black badges protesting no promotion to the 4,000 lecturers working in different colleges across the State for the last 34 to 35 years.
Demanding immediate intervention of Chief Minister, forum State convenor Kamal Prasad Mohanty in a Press release maintained that while a junior lecturer in a Government college is getting promotion to the post of Reader after completing 18 years of service a lecturer in a non-Government aided college is eligible for the post Reader after completing 27 years of service.
“Unfortunately this is also not happening. Though an amendment was made to the defective policy and Chief Minister accorded the same it still awaits the nod of Finance Department for last one year,” said Mohanty.
