College teachers hold demo in city

Published on:

Thousands of teachers and employees under the banner of the All Odisha Non Government Aided and Non Aided held a massive rally and demonstration at the lower PMG here on Monday.

They demanded grant in aid (GIA) from the State Government for those employed since June 1, 2008.

These employees have been on a dharna for a week alleging that though they were appointed by the governing bodies (GBs) formed under rules by the State Government and where MlAs, MPs and local Government officials like Sub Collectors and Tehsildars are the members, still they have been deprived of GIA. They said that they are taking a bigger work burden of their institutions but getting salary too less than their counterparts getting State Scale and UGC. They also warned of continuing their stir till the Government did not include them in the GIA policy.
